Who we are
The Lanyard is run by Channel Steel Limited, registered in England and Wales (company number 16719457), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. We are the data controller for the information below. Questions or requests: james@digitalsteel.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
- If you browse: nothing that identifies you. Your "My day" picks are kept in your own browser. Our host keeps short-lived server logs (such as IP address) to run and protect the site.
- If you sign in: your email address, and anything you choose to add (name, role, region), your "My day" picks and the events you follow. We use them to give you those features. That's the service you asked for.
- Emails: we only send sign-in links, plus the emails you switch on in your account: updates about events you follow, and the weekly round-up. Every one has a way to stop it.
- If you send us an event: the details you give us, and your name and email so we can check them with you. We keep these for up to two years.
Who helps us
- Supabase stores accounts, in their London data centre.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Vercel hosts the site.
- The pages load fonts from Google Fonts, code from jsDelivr and unpkg, and maps from OpenFreeMap, which see your IP address when they serve those files.
- When you open a LinkedIn post on a guide, LinkedIn loads it and may set its own cookies. Post previews show LinkedIn's own images, served by LinkedIn.
Some of these companies are based in the US. Where data leaves the UK, it's covered by the safeguards they provide under UK data protection law.
Cookies and storage
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. We store your sign-in and your "My day" picks in your browser so the site remembers them. That's it.
How long we keep it
Your account stays until you delete it, which you can do yourself from your account page at any time. Deleting it removes your picks and follows with it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete what we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email james@digitalsteel.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
